In Depth: We got Max around his 2nd birthday through Diane Jacobsen. He was being shown in California by his Owner, who had her hands full between him and her toddler and was looking for another show home for him. He had his Junior Courser title and loved to run at Shelby Farm in Memphis.
We love the Calico Ridge lines and he is out of the Warlord – our first RR dog that we got as a rescue (Simon) had the same sire and he was a handsome boy, so it was easy to say we wanted him. Like Simon, Max had been spoiled rotten and was definitely an alpha – it was HIS couch and HIS mommy and HIS toys…all you had to do was walk by him when he was curled up on the couch for a nap, person or pooch, and he’d raise one eye and grumble at you, like, “just keep walking buster”.
He was pretty easy to finish and his handler Jimmy LOVED him, but he didn’t have to put up with his antics when bitches were in season, like scratched/chewed door jambs, crying for days, dropping weight, so when he finished, our dear friends Cindy and Deitmar in Atlanta adopted him. They have two boys, 9 and 13 who LOVE him and he gets them all to himself!
We have to Max proof the house here later this year when we use him for stud for Kelly and Sissy, but hopefully the girls will cooperate and cycle close together (hahahahaha) so we suffer for the minimal time.
